NaNoWriMo is around the corner, and I'm so excited. Thanks to my writing binge, I think this year will be moderately easy. Maybe, I'll have to do most of the work in the first half of the month because for most of the second I'll have all day training for Peace Corps. Which also means seeing people I haven't seen for months and I know they'll be upset if I shuffle them off to write.

I've been doing research for my novel, probably too much, but I'm having a little bit of a basis in a variety of mythology and I've had to select what side each god/goddess is on in my war and which ones my characters will be bound to.  For sure, I have more info in my head than I will ever need. I should probably get going on that outline and character profiles.

I had images of somehow linking NaNo to my work here in Ethiopia, but I don't think it will happen thisyear. Maybe next, when I have more connections to people in town and my grasp of the local language is better. If ever. Students have a hard time reading even in the local language, writing is a bit harder. Let alone trying to convince them that 50K words is an achievable goal. Or that writing in and of itself is rewarding. *sigh* It's so strange to be in a place with no reading culture.

  1. Wow - 50k in 2 weeks! (Sorry, maybe I shouldn't say it like that lol.) At least with lots of info in your head, you'll never be stuck with something to write about.

  2. I've lost all my excitement for NaNo and it's so weird. I'm usually bursting at this point in October. I think it's because I'm not aiming to win for the first time ever. I have a 2 month old baby so I think 50k is out of my reach. It'll be weird to not win it. And kinda sad too.
