Star Wars again, because let's face it.
That world is so huge. There's lots of planets.
(One could say the same for Star Trek,
but they stick in my mind so fleetingly.)

Hoth is a planet that always stayed
with me, probably cuz as a kid I was fascinated by the scene where
Han has to cut open his tauntaun and stuff Luke inside to keep him
from freezing to death. I don't know why, but I was. I used to
identify the movies by their opening scenes and always said my
favorite was "the one on the ice planet."
Which was Hoth, of course. A planet of
ice, snow, and more ice and snow. I could never live there.
I blame that scene for my hurt/comfort love - it totally focused me on the trope. :)

I wonder if it would be right for me to say the same.

Yeah, not for me either.
DeleteOh, now I remember...where Luke survives in the animal's dead body. I loved all the Star Wars movies, still do. Glad it was only fiction though. Thanks for a great post!

DeleteWelcome aboard! But yup, that's the one.
DeleteMe neither! I always wondered if the name of the planet was an intentional joke or just accidental irony... :D

Now I have to say, I see no joke in the naming. Care to share?
DeleteOh, I know what you mean about that whole stuffing Luke inside a Tauntaun to keep him alive - and the whole hanging upside down in the ice cave and having to fight his way out - best start of the three movies. And, as my sis, Natasha said above - hurt/comfort - what's not to love?! ;)

Oh yes, that whole scene at the beginning is just delectable.
DeleteI'm disappointed now. I don't recognize this planet nor the scene, but there are parts of episode five I didn't see so maybe it was there? please tell me, anybody?
ReplyDeleteYup, it was the very beginning of the 5th one.
DeleteHoth is a good name for an icicle of a planet. It was a memorable scene.

It was, wasn't it?
DeleteI loved the Mythbusters where they tried to find out if Luke really could have survived in a tauntaun, except the whole not having a tauntaun thing sort of discredited the experiment real fast. ;)
ReplyDelete*le gasp* Mythbusters did a Star War's episode?! I know what I'm doing on Netflix tonight.
