D is for Dagoba

This is the last post of the week for April's A-to-Z challenge. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, hit up the image to the side. Come back Monday for more science fiction planets!

Dagoba is, disappointingly, a giant swamp. It's such an inhospitable place that despite human kind's far reach, there is not colony on it. Nope. The only sentient life form on Dagoba is Yoda.

Though thinking about it, maybe humans wanted to settle on Dagoba and Yoda just used the Force to place a Notice-Me-Not charm over it so he could be left in peace.

I'm assuming most of you already know this place.

It's in Star Wars.

Where Luke gets his special training.

From Yoda.

  1. This is not the planet you are looking for... :) Ah, Dagoba - I remember wondering what it smelled like when seeing it in the cinema ::g::

    1. I've never thought about that before but I'm sure it's awful.

  2. I remember seeing Dagoba in the movie and also seeing it in a publicity piece in the English studio where it was built. It's very impressive in both contexts. I remember the nightmare cave where Luke encounters the warning for his future :)

    1. That cave is super important. Learning that what you have to overcome isn't something external, but yourself, is hard.

  3. It was one of the scariest parts of the movie for me when I was a kid... :D

    1. It is pretty intense, though I was always worried about the garbage shoot in the first one.

  4. I know the place, but I never knew the name! I'll probably forget it again soon, too :-)

  5. Luck and Yoda, both on Dagoba, I want to go. It was sad that after all his greatness Yoda died so quietly on that deserted planet, but at least he trained a Jedi for one last time and he became the greatest of all time.

    1. I never quite thought of things from Yoda's perspective before, I was too focused on Luke as a kid. But you make a good point.

  6. Yoda is definitely my favorite Star Wars character. I remember watching the movies for the first time and just thinking he was the cutest little thing ever. I didn't want to believe he was a kick-butt Jedi. I wanted to believe he was a cute little green puppet. ;)

    1. I thought he was hilarious at a child simply cuz there was hair growing out of his ears. XD

  7. Oh yes. Who could forget Yoda? Did not know planet's name. Loved the entire Star wars saga and Spielberg and Lucas the creators.
