So, got my YA WIP novel back last week
and, being a discovery writer, there are a lot of issues in this
first draft. One of my major issues seems to be understanding the
thoughts of secondary characters and how off screen events effect my
main character. While my beta mentioned several times I freaked her
out, I fail to see that as a bad thing ^_~
I've decided that, well, the best way
to work out these kinks is to write them out. Writing is my favorite
way of solving problems, fictional or not.
And well, I figure I can't be the only
one out there who wouldn't benefit from side story writings to figure
out characters or off screen event. Thus, I dedicate August to acts
of writing out our problems.
Any one interested in joining, you're
welcome to sign up. You can post once in August, you can post every
day, I don't care. The point is to use your fingers and your brain
to smooth out plot and character snags, but don't be surprised if you
get a helpful comment or two along the way. Writers write, but we
also share. A lot. Maybe too much. But I wouldn't have it any other
way.
This is a cool idea! I'm in. I may need a reminder right before August...just in case :)
