Lycoris Letters

I don't know how many of you have heard of Darcy's Lycoris Letters project, but it's amazing and blooming quite rapidly. She and her wife are answering questions posed to them in letters, and right now being in Eteya, Ethiopia, letters are a god send. She's awesome.

As she's living in Japan, of course we had to have a project kanji and she picked En.

It means fate, destiny (especially as a mysterious force that binds two people together). Relationships, borders, connections, a chance opportunity, and “someone to rely on.”

I feel like I have to do a lot of connecting and forging relationships here in Ethiopia, and I'm so happy of the chance to form them through conversations and through letters, because I can't really do it through the internet any longer. Here in training, things are tough, and you really need someone to rely on in multiple senses. My host family feeds me and shows me around, my other PCTs help me get through the day mentally, and my LCF is teaching me the language. I never realized how much you need people before, I'm usually independent, and so I think I'm going to paint this kanji on my wall once I get to a permanent site.

I do hope the rest of your are enjoying yourselves and keeping up with your writing!
